I began seeing her when I had a miscarriage. She was amazingly sympathetic and gentle. I went back to her when I was pregnant again and she was very supportive of natural birth and hiring a doula. She even stated I needed to take an out of hospital class if natural birth was my goal. However, complications arose, I ended up with a c-section (no doubt in my mind it was medically necessary). She processed that with me at my 6 week check up and brought up VBAC to me. She would mention VBAC at my yearly visits for the next few years, so I began researching.
However, when I became pregnant again, the first prenatal appointment was not what I expected. I (and later found out my husband independently felt the same way) felt that she was no longer supportive and it would be a fight for a VBAC that she had been telling me about for years. So I switched care providers. Following the transfer, I found out that her practice banned VBACs despite research saying it is safe.
That being said, I still recommend her to friends that I know would feel safer with a more medicalized approach to pregnancy. Just because she was no longer the best doctor for my situation does not take away how amazing she was through all of my issues prior.
